What Happens If a Guest Cancels Their Booking?
If a guest cancels their booking, the cancellation policy selected at the time of booking will apply. The amount you receive as the host will depend on the policy in place and when the cancellation occurs.
You do not need to issue a refund to the guest—Holidu handles all refund processes according to the cancellation policy.
How Are Cancellations Handled?
1. The Guest Cancels Through the Booking Platform
- The guest must cancel their reservation directly through the channel where they booked (Holidu, Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, etc.).
- The system will automatically apply the cancellation policy attached to the reservation.
2. The Cancellation Policy Determines the Refund
- Each booking has a cancellation policy that defines whether the guest is eligible for a full, partial, or no refund based on the cancellation policy they may have selected at time of booking (if applicable).
- Your payout will be processed according to the policy selected for the property.
3. You Will Be Notified of the Cancellation
- Once the guest cancels, you will receive an email notifying you of the cancellation.
- You can check your Holidu host account to review the cancellation details and any payout updates.
Key Considerations
- Your Cancellation Policy Applies – The refund the guest receives and your payout as the host will depend on the cancellation policy chosen for the booking.
- Your Calendar Updates Automatically – Once a cancellation is confirmed, the dates will be marked as available for new bookings.
